Bosses who work remotely could be contibuting to lower Employee Engagement
Working virtually is not a trend or a fad. It is here to stay. This being said, a purposeful approach to incorporating a virtual workplace is a high priority for any organization dealing with this workplace reality.
One of the key findings in The Forum: Business Results Through People’s Annual Think Tank Research revealed that engaging remote employees must be a strategic part of a bigger virtual employee management practice endorsed by top organizational leaders.
The importance of a well-defined strategy to incorporate the virtual workplace into a traditional workplace setting is illustrated in a Human Capital Online article, entitled, Remote Bosses: Recipe for Lower Employee Engagement, where the results of a new study suggested that the impact on employers who worked virtually were less positive to a manager that was in the office full-time. Also, the level of impact on the employee was dependent on their ability to work virtually.
